Here is the answer to your question. All filters are washable or can be cleaned with air or water pressure unless they have not been used for long time and have lost their texture and integrity. You should understand the function of a filter in this product. It absorbs the water and retains it until air from fan pushes it and get cooled.But you have to use water obtained thru osmosis or distillation. If you use regular water it has many ingredients like salts calcium chlorine inorganic and organic products they tend to clog those pores in filter and stick for ever so can't be removed or washed. Now you know when and how washing of filter is effective If after washing filter is not throwing cool air it has to be changed as there are no spaces or pores left to retain water.
